Julie’s Favorites

January 26, 2025 By Julie Klassen

The authors of Inspired by Life…and Fiction are offering a new weekly post featuring some of our favorite things. We hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about us—and we’d love to hear your answers to these “favorites” questions in the comments below.

Favorite Holiday: I suppose like many others, my favorite is Christmas. Although Christmas is not what it used to be, now that my Mom is gone (she made Christmas magical for all) and my sons are grown. But I still love the lights, winter majesty, and holiness of the season.

Favorite Vacation Spot: This one is easy! My husband and I love to travel to England together.

Favorite Dessert: I have a sweet tooth, and love desserts far too much for my waistline! Hard to pick one, but I definitely prefer pie over cake, and two of my favorite pies are banoffee pie and raspberry-rhubarb crunch from Betty’s Pies.

Julie, some of your favorites are mine too. Loved Bath, England when we visited there a few years ago. And I miss Betty’s Pies, they are the best. We have been able to go there a few times, but since we live in Michigan it isn’t often.

Hi Judie. Yes, Betty’s Pies are wonderful but quite a trek. Glad you’ve been able to experience them, and Bath, too!

You look so much like your beautiful mom, Julie. Ken and I loved Bath, England too. It hadn’t been on my bucket list before but now I’d love to return!

Thank you, Deborah. Bath is my husband’s favorite!

I was always hoping to make one of your England trips, Julie. They looked wonderful. I have only ever been able to spend an afternoon and night in London – the last leg home from another trip. Still, we made the most of it, seeing Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, changing of the guard and walking in St. James Park.

Sounds wonderful, Betty. We’re hoping to take another group trip in 2026.

I loved seeing a picture of your mom and dad, Julie! Christmas is my favorite holiday also.🎄 The Christmas Eve candlelight service is one I look forward to every year. For travel, I love visiting National Parks 🏞️and historic places. And we share the love of pie!🥧 It is my favorite dessert and food, especially pot pie and rhubarb pie!😋
