Angie shared a fun post yesterday about finishing yet another book (congrats again, Angie), and while I’m not finished with my next one yet, I’m pressing toward that goal. Except for Monday afternoons, which is Leo/GramTam time. And I treasure every minute!
Here are some glimpses from yesterday, followed by a question I’d welcome your input on.
Yesterday, Leo fought me a little on sleep…
But eventually we both won. : )
He loves his little Infantino Music and Lights seat, and while Bailey (our youngest Australian terrier) doesn’t seem to have a strong opinion about it, she still hung close, as usual, on the off chance she could steal a kiss or two. And she did! But Leo’s so chill, he took it all in stride.
We also had some routine tummy time, which he didn’t hate—until almost eight minutes in, then his patience wore thin. But we’re getting there.
Finally, here’s a pic that Kellie, his mom, snapped last week. Gracious, I adore this boy! Can you see now why I always look forward to Leo Mondays? ❤️
Thanks for indulging me, friends. The newness of being a grandmother still hasn’t worn off, and I doubt it ever will.
A question for all you young mothers out there (and for older moms with great memories of the early days), what’s one of the best gifts you received as a young mom on Mother’s Day?
Perhaps a favorite indulgence you would’ve never bought for yourself? A decadent sweet? A nice perfume? Or something more practical like a coupon book with coupons for several guaranteed full nights of rest (aka: keeping Leo overnight)? Talk about a win-win. : )
Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tammy

Love the pictures of Leo–he really is adorable. :-). I understand how you feel about Leo-time.
As to gift suggestions, I’d say give them a coupon for free babysitting, but they can get that anyway, right? Maybe the gift of music? Something your daughter can listen to while rocking, cleaning, etc? I’m sure you’ll come up with the perfect thing because you know your daughter best.

I agree with Angie on the gift of music. One of my favorite ever baby gifts was a CD (okay, showing my age, but it was actually a cassette tape) of beautiful lullaby music. It not only calmed the baby, but it calmed me and helped me slow down and enjoy our little surprise baby who came along when our other kids were 14, 10, and 8.
Leo is a DOLL! I’ve so enjoyed watching him grow!

LOL on the cassette tape, but I’m right there with you, babe! Music is so powerful. Hugs and I’m still sad at you guys selling the Chinook. Just sayin’! But I SO get it.

From one grandma to another, Angie, thank you! Love the idea of music.

I wish someone would have clean my house and do chores for me. I remember just being exhausted and overwhelmed. I also like the idea of grandparents watching the baby overnight or even the weekend so the parents can have a date getaway. Leo is precious. Congratulations! 🙂

Thanks, Katherine, and I love the idea of cleaning too. Good one!

My most memorable Mother’s Day gift was getting to bring my 2nd child home. She is adopted and the lawyer released her from foster care to our home. She was six days old. She will 23 on Monday. 💖

Oh, what a great Mom’s Day gift, Sandi! Such a blessing. Thanks for sharing that with us, and an early HBD to your daughter for Monday!

Don’t they though! Thanks, Becky.

Sorry I don’t have any suggestions, but I love the pictures of Leo! He is adorable! Enjoy all the time you can, because they grow up so fast. My granddaughter is 15 and my grandson will be 14 next month!

They DO grow so quickly, don’t they, Betty. I’m soaking up every moment and just savoring him. Hugs to you!

The best gift I ever received when I was a new mom was nap-time. Not when my child napped…she never, ever did that (NICU babies tend not to be nappers because from second one they are inundated with sounds and lights and emergency issues; my baby was in the NICU for 3 1/2 months so when we came home it was too quiet for her). No, I’m talking about mommy naps. When a kind friend or my mother or my darling hubby would gift me free nap time by taking my daughter for a specific amount of time and letting me nap and then shower. That was always a Godsend for me.
Tamera Alexander says
I LOVE that idea, Nicole. Taking it with your blessing and hugging you from here. ; ) I never realized that about NICU babies. Thanks for sharing.
