This week we’re getting new flooring at our house. It was desperately needed, but if you’ve ever participated in a process like this, you know just how chaotic it is. Yesterday the installers were using the nail gun to affix plywood to the floor in prep for new laminate.

It’s been so loud inside, we’ve been doing school outside. The glories of homeschooling.
The day before there was the strong smell of glue as the put down carpet in my bedroom, the hallway and stair. It’ll be a full week process…hopefully finished by the end of the day on Friday. It’s gotten me thinking about how our lives are often like this construction project. Utter chaos and bedlam reign in the in between places. We don’t like where we are, and we know we need to get somewhere different. The steps in between though are painful.

We decided to put laminate in my oldest daughter’s bedroom because she is a nail-painting, crafting girl. It turned out great!

Fortunately the weather has cooperated to let us be outside to do our read alouds. We’re loving a biography on C.S. Lewis and the third installment of the Land of Stories.
Everything in our lives feels upended as we move the furniture around the room. We box up books, we force ourselves to purge and move things to the basement. All in an effort to reach a place where life is less hectic, or prettier, or more functional. Maybe all three. But the in betwe
en is painful.

There’s something wonderful about fresh carpet and a super springy carpet pad.
What area does God have you in between in currently? Are you a willing participant? Or are you fighting Him in the pruning? Keep your eyes focused on what will come on the other side. It will be worth the CHAOS.

I can certainly relate to the chaos you’re experiencing. We had our whole house painted inside some years ago. I would come home from school (teaching) each day and see how far the painters had gone and then madly move things from room to room – not fun!
My thoughts are with you!
