My Current Phase & a giveaway!

I thought I’d take this post to re-introduce myself to those of you who’ve been a part of this community for some time and introduce myself to the rest of you! I’m Becky, and I write Christian contemporary romances. I’ve now published 14 of those, including 4 complete series.

My novels all contain a central romance, humor, and a faith story that highlights God’s pursuing love for us imperfect people. Do you see the fifth book up from the bottom? The red one? It’s called Her One and Only. That book all the way up to my most recent novels at the top of the stack also contain mysteries.

It took writing 6 manuscripts across 6 years + quitting writing for 7 years for me to finally find my way to the genre of Christian romance. Since 2012, I’ve had a book out every year. However, last year was a difficult one for me both physically and creatively. So, for the first time in a long time, I removed writing pressure from my life.

These days, I’m feeling so much better! Physically and creatively. I’m not forcing myself to write at any particular pace. Even so, my pace has naturally picked back up and I’ll soon begin the final draft of a new novel.

My husband and I have 3 kids and–wow–how they’ve grown over the years since I started publishing Christian fiction. Our oldest is 25. We took the photo above at her “white coat ceremony”. She just completed her first year at UT Southwestern Medical School here in our hometown of Dallas. She’s in Peru this summer doing medical research for 6 weeks. We’re so proud of our science girl.

Our son is 22 and just graduated from college last month with a degree in film. He’s heading to UCLA in September to pursue a graduate degree in cinematography! How cool is that? He’s a storyteller in his own right.

Our youngest (on the right in the photo above) is 17 and will be heading into her senior year at the end of this summer. She recently got her driver’s license, which has been incredibly freeing for us both . . . but also a bit scary for us both. 😉 She attends an awesome performing arts high school and will be playing the role of Fiona in their musical production of Shrek this fall. Can’t wait! She, too, is a storyteller in her own right.

I’m loving my current phase! I hope you’re finding things to love about the phase that you’re in, too.

I appreciate the depth of personality you give each character… that the plots feel like things real people might experience and that their reliance on faith in Christ reflects our real battles to do so. Fun fact: I accidentally read Meant to Be Mine before anything else without realizing it was part of a series and it is what got me back into reading after falling away from reading after high school.
