Hello friends! I hope 2023 is off to a good start for you so far. I have barely left my house except for church this last week, daily working into the wee hours to hit my January deadline. Yesterday, I turned in Book Two in my new series, On Devonshire Shores. (Book One, The Sisters of Sea View, came out in December.) I know, I know, I should have worked harder over previous weeks to avoid the crunch. But during those previous weeks there was that important little holiday called Christmas and all the accompanying busyness. At any rate, I’m grateful the manuscript is with my editors now and I have a few weeks until they return it with feedback and revision ideas.
For today, I want to share with you the title of this new book (no cover yet). Book Two is called, A Winter by the Sea. And it is scheduled to release in early December of this year.
The novel takes place primarily over the winter of 1819-1820 in Sidmouth, England. Snow is rare in the south of England, but they had plenty that year, and actually this year as well. It’s been interesting writing a novel set in a seaside town in cold, snowy weather. Living in the frozen North as I do (Minnesota USA) it’s fairly easy to imagine. Here are a few photos of Sidmouth decked with snow:
More details to come, but that’s all for today. Now to begin catching up on my sleep and many other tasks. And, who knows, I might just take down our Christmas tree…. 🙂

Congrats on getting your book in, Julie! I think it’ll be wonderful for readers to explore the sights, smells, and sounds of beach town setting in winter. 🙂

Congrats on getting your book in! Winter in a beach town. Let’s see, I live in Virginia Beach, which doesn’t get a lot of snow, but we have been known to have the occasional blizzard. One very bad storm came when the circus was in town and people were snowbound in the colosseum – not me, fortunately!
I know this will be a great series!

Your email was so timely because last night I finished reading “The Sisters of Sea View.” I really enjoyed it!! I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought the sisters’ story was good at showing the sisters’ differences, and it was very cool that the one sister who had a mild “flaw” and thought she’d never marry ends up being the one to marry first! I do look forward to seeing how the story goes for Sarah, Emily, and Georgiana. I was also glad that the mother actually improved and didn’t die. Thanks so much writing this book!

Happy New Year to you too.
I read “Sisters of Sea View” over New Year’s weekend and enjoyed it! I borrowed a copy from the library.
Looking forward to “A Winter by the Sea” when it comes out! It should be able interesting to read about life in a resort town during the offseason.
To add to the previous poster’s comment, hopefully we can “hear” more from Claire even if it’s only letters to Sarah and vice versa.
