Thanks to everyone who sent a note via Facebook about my father-in-law’s passing last Monday. It’s been a long and wearying week, but also a joyous one. Joe’s dad, Fred, was a believer in Christ, so we have the unwavering guarantee of seeing him again. Which means we don’t grieve as those who have no hope. But we still grieve, of course, and so look forward to seeing him again. I’m so grateful that for believers in Christ, our goodbyes are only temporary. Thanks again for your prayers for our trip to Arkansas this past weekend for the burial—and for your encouraging words. Bless you!
A scripture I read recently while studying for BSF really renewed my joy, especially in light of loved ones who’ve gone on before…
So encouraging. And a little Novel Trivia:
I took this picture in 2006 while in Paris with Joe, and loved this cemetery so much that it became the setting for the opening scene in my novel Remembered. I found the heroine’s name for the novel on a tombstone that day too!
Is there a scripture that’s really spoken to you lately? Or perhaps a “life verse” that God’s written on your heart?
Much love,
Tammy
JACK CAM
Jack visited the kennel while we were gone this weekend. Just couldn’t take him with us. And, bless him, he’s been like this ever since I picked him up yesterday!
How do your pets fare at the kennel?
And the winner is…
Cat W
Cat, please let me hear from you here! Send me your U.S. mailing address, and I’ll get your books in the mail! Thanks, everyone, for entering the giveaway and for your kind words about my father-in-law’s passing. You’re a blessing to me.

Poor Jack, he is worn out and so thrilled to be home after his visit away. I call our boarding station, which is at our vets office, The Pet Motel. I know Heidi and Josie know when I load them in the car that that is where they are going. They seem to do very well there but their excitement is quite obvious when I come back for them. No place like home!
I would love to be the winner for your three book giveaway. What gems! I have tried various places to win them but no luck so far. Maybe today is the day and this is the spot! Thank you for the opportunity and have a great Groundhog Day!

Tammy,
Phil. 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
That’s been my mainstay for years, through college, some health issues, my grandfather’s passing, and now in the uncertainty of post-graduation. It’s beyond comforting to remember this verse and carry it with me. I hope it brings you and your family comfort at this time, too.

I would love to win those! I’ve had my eye on Mermaid Moon in particular.
I don’t have a life verse per se, but two that have comforted me often in life are Issiah 41:10: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” and Psalm 16:11: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Praying for your family! I am thankful for books and music. We live in such a messed up world that it is refreshing to get your thoughts away from life and problems by reading a book or listening/playing/singing to music. God is so good to us and looking forward to His return! Now back to reading my book with my yorkie, Frodo, next to me! 🙂
Shirley Chapel says
So sorry for your loss of your father in law. What blessed assurance to know he was a believer and one day you will be reunited in heaven. This is what we live our lives for if we are believers. I want to thank you for this giveaway. I haven’t read any of the books you posted in the above picture. I would love to win one and I know someone will win and it will make their day. As for scripture I read a verse in Matt.9:36 this morning about Jesus being moved with compassion for the needs of the people in the crowd where he taught that day. ” But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and where scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” The people of that day had little or no spiritual teaching and mentoring . They were hungry for the gospel. As for my cats when I go away. We leave our babies with a trusted neighbor. I also watch their little doggie while they vacation .
May God Bless your family during this sad time and may You recognize his compassion and love for you.
Kathy Pollard says
So sorry for the loss of your father-in-law!

Poor Jack, he is so worn out. I haven’t had to the kennel trip for a long time. I just have a cat. Recently I was gone for almost two weeks and he stayed in a friend’s apartment with her cat. He is going to a nursing home forehand today and I may try to bring him to my place.

Hi Tammy! Greetings from CO! Knowing that you have enjoyed these books is reason enough to make me want to read them.
Ephesians 3:20 is the verse that is speaking to me right now as we’re praying our son through cancer treatments. The doctor is optimistic about his future and this verse gives us hope for an even better outcome than we know how to pray for or can imagine.
Love and God bless!

Amanda Geaney says
Of the 3 authors, I’ve only read Colleen Coble.
Many years ago, while I was an AF medic, I deployed with a Dr. Vogt. Through a Facebook chat with Beth Vogt we figured out that her husband and the doctor I served with were one in the same. It was a neat connection and I’ve wanted to read one of her books ever since.
My #OneWord this year is Humble. I’m focusing on verses this year that pertain to humility (Eph 4:2; Prov 11:2; Micah 6:8…).
Pam K. says
I am so thankful that as Christians, we have the hope of seeing our loved ones again in heaven. My mother passed away the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It is so true that we don’t grieve as “those who have no hope.” I miss my mom a lot, but wouldn’t wish her back to her life of pain. It’s certainly hard to say goodbye to those we love, though. My sympathy to you and your family.
Mary B. says
May God continue to heal you all and comfort you.
One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Trixi says
I didn’t know about the passing of your Father-in-law, so sorry for your loss! But like you said, you have hope of seeing him again in eternity! So thankful he was a believer 🙂 May God rest His peace on your family!
Lately I’ve really latched onto this verse; Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. It’s an almost inconceivable truth, how could a just God love me when I was such a wretched sinner? But He did & still does 🙂 What a comfort to me in so many ways. He’s such an amazing God, isn’t He?
Thank you for the chance at 3 wonderful books….which are all on my want-to-read list 🙂

What a glorious testimony about your father, and how nice it will be when you two meet again in Heaven! Praise God for His gift of love and grace through His Son, Jesus Christ. If not for the blood of Jesus, we would be hopeless in this old world. Thank you for being a Christian writer. Using the talents He gifted us with is what we all should do, use them to bring glory and honor to Him alone. Worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness.
Your question, how do your pets fare at the kennels, well, mine won’t eat, they shiver and are anxious the whole time, and they even lose weight from fear, so we don’t go anywhere now that doesn’t have a pet friendly hotel.
