Last night I had the joy of connecting with readers at a nearby library. I love the opportunity to spend time with those who love books. There is something so special about conversing with those who adore the written word as much as I do. To also interact with those who’ve read my books and love the characters as much as I do.
I didn’t get any photos with those who attended — I always think about it at the wrong times. I really should bring someone with me to take photos sometime. Last night I got so many wonderful questions about writing and my books. We talked about where ideas come from and how I write my books. We discussed what it’s like to collaborate with other authors and how to plan. We talked about what they like to read and so much more. It was oxygen to my soul.
Readers, you matter so much to us. We need you and interactions with you. So here’s a thank you for all the times you show up for us. I appreciate you!
Who’s an author that you have interacted with? Do you like to go to author talks and booksignings?
In the spirit of sharing favorite authors, today I’m giving away a copy of Jody Hedlund’s latest novel, Saved by the Matchmaker. I have loved her latest series, but this book was great! From the first page this marriage of convenience romance pulled me in. The author writes wonderful romance and this one is even sweeter thanks to the hero’s approach to the wounded heroine.
Both Enya and Sullivan have a reason they must marry immediately. And both are skittish about giving their full hearts to the other. The way Sullivan sacrificial loves Enya is breathtaking. There’s a lot going on in this novel but the romance captured me. That is not normal for me and I loved it! I highly recommend this sweet, clean, yet romantic read. I love to go to author talks and book signings. The first one I got to attend after I retired was in Branson, Missouri and you were there! I was so excited to meet you. Thank you for making time to visit with your readers, it really means a lot!

I attended my first author event and book signing in June 2024.
It was wonderful! I went for one of my favorite authors, Karen Witemeyer. I ate lunch with her and Kimberley Woodhouse (along with other attendees). I also discovered some authors I was not familiar with. I started reading books from each of the authors at the event and found new favorites!!
It was a wonderful time!
I am looking forward to discovering another event near me.

I love being on both sides of an Author Talk! Not only is it fun to connect with my readers, it’s so fun to listen to other authors talk about their work!

I love meeting authors! When I’m on the other side of the table, I’m not as comfortable (introvert here). But I love the world of books, so it’s all good!

I love going to author talks! I have seen Julie Klassen once and Gabrielle Meyer was at our local library twice! Gabrielle talked about her Timeless series and showed us on a spreadsheet how she plans her stories. It was so interesting!

One of our local publishers works with local authors to host events. A few of the authors are my faves like Sarah M Eden and Nancy Campbell Allen. They have recently hosted a soirée. An upcoming event will be a masquerade ball. Sarah had an event related to the release of her last mystery novel where we searched a local historical house for clues…it was an experience to be a part of her book. These events started out just as panels with treats but are growing into something amazing and special. I have loved each one and enjoy meeting the different authors.

No Im too much of an introvert but I always leave reviews on Amazon for every book I finish and I do ask my public library to buy your latest book as well as many other Christian fiction authors as well.

What’s not to love about spending time with authors and readers and talking about books? I love that each event has its own unique flavor so not every author/reader event is the same.

Sorry, I am catching up on emails and just now reading this. I have engaged with author Deborah Raney (distant cousin) and author Jackie Zack (former co-worker). I haven’t been to an in-person author event in a decade or so, though. Most of my interactions these days have been through email or social media.
