Praying with Jane (and a giveaway!)

August 27, 2019 By Julie Klassen

When I was recently in England (how much do I love typing that line? 🙂 ) I was delighted to see Rachel Dodge’s book, Praying With Jane, in a most auspicious place: Jane Austen’s House Museum, where Miss Austen lived for many years and wrote and revised the majority of her beloved novels. It’s always fun to spy author-friend’s books out in the world, but this sighting was especially significant to me. I am happy that so many people who go to the museum will have the chance to discover Rachel’s fabulous book and Jane Austen’s prayers for themselves.

Praying with Jane in good company at Jane Austen’s House Museum.

I have long been touched and moved by Jane Austen’s beautiful prayers and have included brief snippets of them in some of my novels. Now you can read them all in one place, complete with relevant details of Jane’s life and novels. Here’s just one excerpt:

In my endorsement for the book, I wrote:

Rachel Dodge draws rich insight and practical application for modern readers from Jane Austen’s beautifully written prayers. Includes compelling accounts of Jane’s life and inspiring, heartfelt prayers to make your own. Praying with Jane is a wonderful devotional for anyone, and a perfect gift for an Austen fan. Highly recommended.”

—Julie Klassen, bestselling author

In honor of this special sighting, I would love to give away a copy of Rachel’s Praying With Jane. For an opportunity to win, simply comment below with a greeting or a prayer request.

Good morning on this fine Tuesday. What a blessing to wake up to smell the rain, to see my wonderful hubby’s face, to feel the sweet kisses from our furbaby, to hear the birds singing at the feeders, and to taste the bounty of the kitchen. God’s given senses that we too often take for granted.

Thank you for the wonderful prayer that gives us a gentle reminder to give thanks and to appreciate.

I’d love the opportunity to read “Praying With Jane”. Appreciate the chance to win a copy.

Rom. 11:33, 36 – Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

I’m so glad you mentioned this book, Julie. I didn’t know of it, either, and after looking it up, I decided to grab a copy. I’ve been focusing on prayer lately in my daily devotions, and this looks like a wonderful change of pace that still offers a lot of spiritual depth. I look forward to learning more about Jane’s walk with God as I deepen my own journey.

Like several have commented above, I did not realize this book existed. I am thankful every day that the Lord allows us to wake up, that He’s given us a Savior and a chance at eternal life in heaven with Him and even for hot and cold running indoor water so we don’t have to haul it from miles away. I would ask prayer for my Mother who has been having pain in her hip/leg that impairs her mobility and also for my Father (who is a pastor) who has one eye that is blurry and needs healing so that he can continue to read his Bible and teach the flock the Lord has blessed him with. Thank you and thank you for the opportunity to win a wonderful book.
