Hey, everybody. Poppet Hatcher here, putting on my reporter’s glasses and filling in for my favorite human. (And don’t I look just too cool for school in those red glasses??)
It’s been a crazy summer for Robin. She’s done some traveling and will be doing more traveling in the coming months. But mostly she’s been trying to “wrestle a book to the ground.” She says writing is like that sometimes. Like a good old fashioned wrestling match. (Whatever that is.)
I like Robin’s office so it’s okay with me that she spends lots of hours there. It’s cozy. I’ve got a favorite spot to curl up in there. I like the way it smells, too. She has one of those warmers and puts drops of Mexican Vanilla oil in it. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
Anyway, I digress.
Have I mentioned that writers seem to do a lot of talking to themselves or to their computer screens. At least my favorite human does. Sometimes she speaks as if there were someone else in the room (besides all important moi). Other times she mumbles beneath her breath. Of course, I like it best when she talks to me and tells me what a good girl I am. That makes me perk up and wiggle my tail.
Sometimes my human gets discouraged. Does that ever happen to you? I could tell she was sort of feeling that way for a number of reasons, when this note popped up on her Facebook Author Page.
I’ve never been a reader, Robin, but since I have come across your books, I cannot be without a new one to read. Just finished The Heart’s Pursuit and just loved it. I think it was the 6th book I have read this summer. I have one more on hand, and then I get to pick another. Thank you so much for bringing such pleasure to so many. God Bless.
Boy, did that ever make my human smile! She says she’s grateful to God for sending those words of encouragement through readers every now and then. She’s kind of like me, I guess. Just a few kind words makes her perk up and wiggle her tail. Okay, she doesn’t have a tail, but I think she would look good with one.
Well, I’m getting tired of balancing these red glasses on my nose, so I guess that’s the end of my report from Idaho. Take care and I’ll see you next time I get to guest post for my favorite human.
Signing off,
Poppet Hatcher

Poppet, you look pawsome with those red glasses on! And you have a flare for words. Ever think about co-writing a book with Robin? A romance between a hardnosed cattle dog and genteel collie perhaps? Well, I’ll leave the details up to you, but I’d be first in line to buy it! And don’t forget you have an important job there in your human’s office. You have to keep the positive vibes going with that wiggling tail of yours. So glad that Robin is getting encouragement from loyal reading fans. You tell her we’ll be praying she comes out the winner in that wrestling contest.

Poppet says: I do have a flare for words, don’t I? Although sometimes humans don’t understand me as well as you do. Woof!
Meredith says
Thanks, Poppet. I’m reading for my human, I’m Nick. It’s interesting my human acts the same way. Until next time…
Keep on Writing
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Good to hear from you Nick. Reading keeps you sharp, so glad you came by.

Well, that does it! I’m going to HAVE to get a dog! 😉
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Gasp! You don’t already have a dog??? Yes, you must get one. If you need help finding the right one for you, just ask. I’m full of advice.
Rosie says
Oh Poppet! Dare I say it? You are a seeing eye dog! Just love those groovey specs of yours:)
So glad you enjoy sharing your favourite human’s office. Absolutely perfect for a doggy retreat and plenty of room for wiggling of doggy tales..er I mean tails!
I’m with Kav…I think you and your favourite human should co- write a book! I’d certainly read it!
So good to read a Post from you Poppet. Looking forward to your next one.:)
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Thank you. Groovey for sure. And for a second, I thought you wrote “treat” instead of “retreat.” I got all excited. 🙂

Hee hee! Cute dog and cute post (your human is not too shabby either ;))
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Thanks, Julie. I used to think my name was “You’re so cute!” because humans said it to me all the time when I was a pup. I am now officially a senior dog, but I haven’t changed much … except for packing on a few extra pounds.

Ahhh, I love Papillons and yours is so adorable! We had one and I loved her but we had to give her away when we found out our granddaughter was allergic to dogs. Papillons shed so much and her eyes and nose kept running all the time. We kept our five pound Yorkie. She doesn’t shed and we keep her separated in half our kitchen.
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Papillons are great dogs. Who am I to argue with that kind of comment. But I’ve got some Yorkie friends, so I think you kept a good one too. Sorry about those allergies, though. My favorite human sniffs and blows her nose a lot, probably because of me, although I prefer to blame the cat.

Adorable with a capital A! My little furry baby is sitting next to me while I type this and they are so much company. I, too, enjoy Robin’s books…your human is very talented Poppet! Have a furrific week! Linda & Missy!
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Love that furrific week wish, Linda, and please stroke Missy’s fur a couple of times for me.

We’re honored to have you here, Poppet! You (and your name) are adorable. Tell Robin that God often ministers and encourages me through a note from a reader, too. Those notes always seem to arrive just when I need them most.
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Thanks, Becky. I’ll tell her.

Ooh Poppet! I meant to say(of course) that DEFINITELY “TREATS” are an essential part of being in RETREAT! Food is good for the soul and above all, “Food for Thought” especially after all that tail wagging and writing your Post!LOL
Patti Jo says
Oh Poppet, you are SO cute (and very stylish with those red glasses)! 🙂
Thank you for posting today, and please tell your human that she, AND her books, are adored by many, many folks.
Now, I must ask about Pinky. Is she doing okay? I do hope the 2 of you are getting along. 😉
Hugs, Patti Jo (Mom of Moses, one of your Facebook pals) 🙂
Robin Lee Hatcher says
Poppet says: Hey, Patti Jo. Say hi to Moses. I’ll tell Pinky you asked about her. We’ve been in a period of truce for quite sometimes. Every so often, I try to start something, but she’s become good at reading my moods and avoiding me when necessary. To tell the truth, I think she’d really like us to be friends, but I’ve got my canine pride to consider.

Adorable post and comments – thanks!! I’ve had numerous dogs/pets over the years but none for a number of years now. Thanks for using your writing gift to inspire us, Robin!!

Poppet says: Thank you, Bonnie. Sorry you’re without a dog. Makes me sad to think about it. And I’ll tell Robin of your thanks.
