Research, books & thanks, oh my!

April 23, 2020 By Cara Putman

Very early Wednesday morning, I turned in the macro or substantive edit for my next book, Lethal Intent. With this book I spent a lot of time on the hero and heroine because I wanted to make them deep. And that meant lots of flow charts and things. In my office I have a blank wall right next to my desk and computer, so I turned it into a “white board” where I posted my ideas. This is what it looked like this morning.:

This is what it looks like now:

I think that means it’s time to start dreaming and scheming the next book. I’ve sent in several ideas to my editor at Harper Collins Christian Publishing, but I’m toying with what to work on next. In the in-between time I’m reading. This pile is just a few of the books. Mrs. Kennedy and Me is one of four books I’ve picked up about being on the president’s protective detail. Since my latest books have been set in the DC area, I could see one of my characters having a job like that and thought this book and the others could help me get started on research.

Flight Risk also released on April 7. Thank you so much to everyone who has already read it and posted reviews or told someone you liked it. The following are a few of the images from Instagram. Aren’t they gorgeous?!?

What are you reading right now? What have I missed while I was working on Lethal Intent and Flight Risk?

I’ve been reading Mondrop Miracle by Jennifer Lamont Leo. It releases on may 5. A great 1920’s hard luck story.
I’m almost done with When Silence Sings by Sarah Loudin Thomas. If you read Shannon McNear’s The Blue Cloak, It is about the Harpe clan only in the 1930’s. It’s a clan war back in the Mountains of West Virginia.
Waiting for Flight Risk to get here.
