She said, “Yes!”

Fun family news!

This past weekend our son Kurt asked his girlfriend Kellie Fusilier to marry him—and she said, “YES!”

Unbeknownst to Kellie, Kurt had been in cahoots with her family and they drove from Louisiana to be with us at the lake this weekend. How it played out… 

Kurt and Kellie were camping with friends on a nearby island and after he proposed, he sent us a quick text saying, “Done!” at which time we all piled in the boat and drove over to surprise them. And wow was Kellie ever surprised! The look on her face when she saw her parents and twin sister (and her precious nieces) . . . priceless!

She’d so wanted to share this moment with her family too (whenever the proposal came!) so this was a really wonderful weekend.

The entire clan on the island that was oh-so-hot-and-muggy. But oh, what joy there was amid all the sweat! ; )

Our families blend so well together, our mutual faith in the Lord being the cornerstone and interweaving everything else together so beautifully. Thank you, Jesus! Lord, bless our son and his future wife—and our “new daughter.”

As Leslie (Kellie’s mom) said, “When our kids marry, their spouses become our children too!” And I wholeheartedly agree. Blessings abound in the Alexander and Fusilier household and we’re so grateful.

Now comes the wedding planning, which is also fun!

  4. The last wedding I attended was my step-granddaughter’s. It was wonderful and rewarding to know that she depended on my husband and me for so many things – above and beyond all the other grands that were there! We are blessed to have her in our family and she and her husband are a wonderful couple. They are not saved, so that is always an issue for prayer, but God has blessed them as a couple.

  6. Congratulations! Love how y’all surprised her. Our son lives in TN and his wedding was to be in Asheville this past May. Covid meant rescheduling sadly. But God is in control of even weddings.

    The last wedding I attended was my nephew’s three years ago. My husband officiated – his last occasion to do this as a retired Methodist minister.

  10. It was not the last wedding I attended, but one of my husband’s cousins got married on a previous October 31st and turned it into a masquerade wedding. They dressed up like phantom of the opera and wore masks. The wedding march was the theme to Phantom of the Opera. All the guests were to wear some form of ‘costume’ whether it be formal ball masquerade or other, like superheroes, etc. It was a very fun wedding!

  16. Congratulations! What an exciting time!

    My son got married to a wonderful lady on January 25, 2020. Although it was a tad chilly and spitting rain/snow, it was a lovely day. We were so grateful it happened before COVID-19. Now, we are going to be grandparents in December! We are thrilled!

  17. Congratulations!! Love the pictures! Your children look a lot like you. Love the red hair! My new granddaughter has red hair and I absolutely LOVE it!

    I attended the wedding of a co-worker in June. The ceremony was outside and there were no masked required! It was hot but the reception was inside with the cool AC. My favorite thing was the wedding cake. I love wedding cake!!
