Spring Happenings!

May 20, 2022 By Jody Hedlund

This spring has sprung with all its beautiful green glory here in central Michigan. After a very long winter, we are loving every single second of the warmer weather and regaining our color after the past six months of a dull gray landscape.

In addition to my usual writing and editing projects, this spring has been busy with a couple of major events.

The first was the annual rummage sale that my church hosts. After a two-year hiatus because of Covid, the rummage sale was busier than ever because people had more stuff than ever to donate.

As you might expect, I’m in charge of the used book sale portion of the rummage sale. There were 14 large tables filled with books as well as boxes of books under each table! It was a LOT of work to organize!

This year, the sale earned $34,000 to go toward missions. Isn’t that incredible? So that you can see the scope of the rummage sale, here are a few pictures of the sanctuary showing different sections. (I’m sorry to say that I didn’t get any pictures of the book section!)

The second major event was my daughter’s bridal shower that I hosted for family and friends. As I’ve mentioned previously, my daughter is getting married in July. We wanted to celebrate with her as well as shower her with gifts so that she’ll have everything she needs as she starts married life.

Here are just a few pictures from the fun day!

In book news, if you missed the release of To Tame a Cowboy in early May, then head over to my website to check out more information about the book and to see what readers are saying about it.

And in other book news, my next sweet but adventurous medieval romance book, Ensnared, is releasing on June 14 (less than a month away!). You won’t want to miss this next installment! Find out more information here: http://jodyhedlund.com/books/ensnared/

Your turn! What are the spring happenings in YOUR life?

Oh, my goodness! That rummage sale is right up my alley! That would almost be worth driving to Michigan for! 😉 Our church has a sale like that each spring. The youth run it, and proceeds go to help them all go on a mission trip. I just think it’s a brilliant concept that helping parishioners clean out their attics and closets (and possibly helping those shoppers who couldn’t afford to buy at full price) also has such a mission-minded goal.

Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding. Your girls are beautiful (and you look more like their SISTER!)

Oh Deb, you’d love it! You should come! The trouble is that it’s become such a popular rummage sale that before the doors open, the line wraps around the church and it’s SO busy! But you’re right—it’s a wonderful way to empty our closets and bless others with really cheap prices.

Congrats on the bridal shower, Jody! Such fun times ahead. We just finished our wedding last weekend. I’m almost recovered. Ha! Wyatt and his bride return from Disney World tomorrow. Looking forward to hugging their necks! Blessings to you as you work toward your July wedding. Busy yet beautiful times ahead!

Congrats Karen! I wish I could catch up with you (and get some pointers!). I hope it was a wonderful occasion!

I loved these updates! 34K is an amazing result for a rummage sale and I’m so happy for your daughter.

Thank you, Becky! I hear you on the 34K. It’s SO awesome and goes directly into the mission trips, which allows more kids to go who otherwise might not be able to afford it.

It’s so cool you raise that much money for kids to experience the amazing sense of God working. I believe travel and service are such awesome ways to open eyes and hearts and fill the soul with awe and joy. The trips I’ve gone on with my kids have given me way more than I’ve given to those we go to help. At least, that’s how it always seems.
