Spring Reading Bouquet

May 1, 2025 By Karen Witemeyer 10 Comments

If you were to put together a bouquet of books that you either have read or plan to read this spring, and each genre is a different flower type, how eclectic would your bouquet be?

Bouquets of a dozen roses can be dramatic and beautiful, while bouquets of a dozen different flowers can be cheerful and fun, so there are no wrong answers.

My bouquet fits in a small vase since I don’t have much reading time, and it is mostly composed of historical romance lilies, though I have an orchid and a couple carnations thrown in for variety.

  • Historical Romance – Lily
  • Contemporary Romance – Tulip
  • Mystery – Orchid
  • Romantic Suspense – Rose
  • Rom Com – Carnation
  • Fantasy – Snapdragon
  • Thriller – Hydrangeas
  • Children’s Book – Baby’s Breath
  • Nonfiction – Peonies

What flowers are in your spring reading bouquet?

Everything but hydrangeas. Not really into thrillers.

I had fun picking hydrangeas for that genre. Made me think of “hy” “danger.” 🙂 I don’t read much in that genre, either.

Lilies make up the bulk of mine. But I also have some roses, snapdragons, orchids, and just one hydrangea (because my chicken self can’t handle more than one of those in a season. LOL)

I have lots of lilies in my bourquet, too, Joy. Lily happens to me my favorite flower, which is why I assigned it to my favorite genre. 🙂

So far I have had lots of baby’s breath (prepping for summer reading program at our church), peonies, a lily, and a rose.

    Enjoy your spring bouquet!
