Tea Time with Friends

March 28, 2023 By Julie Klassen

One of the highlights of my year is having tea with ladies from the “Tantalizing Tea” book club. Over the last several years, these readers have also become dear friends.

(Talented hostess Kristine, Phyllis and her famous shortbread, green-thumb Emily, and potter Beverly.)

This year’s tea was especially enjoyable because author-friends Erica Vetsch and Michelle Griep were there as well.

(Rebecca, Emily, Judy, Tiffany, Kristine, Phyllis (Back). Shari, Julie, Michelle, Erica (Front).)

The ladies showered us with delicious food, laughter, and generous gifts. Did we talk much about our books? Welllll…..no. But we had a marvelous time of fun and fellowship anyway!

And today, Erica and Michelle and I are heading off for a few-day writing retreat together. Will more tea and treats be consumed? You KNOW it!

(Beautiful card made by Judy (L). Julie, Michelle, Erica (R).)

Do you belong to a book club? Have you hosted or attended a tea party with friends?

That looks like a fabulous time! I belong to an online book club. We just met last evening via Zoom. We have members from around the world which makes it a lot of fun. I’ve never hosted a tea party, but did attend a tea party for a friend’s birthday. I hope you have a wonderful writing retreat!

That looks like so much fun, Julie. The tea, the baked goodies, the hats, the bookish fellowship. I can’t think of anything I would love more. And then you get to retreat with Michelle and Erica afterward??? AWESOME!

I know; I’m pretty excited and ready for a little time away after turning in rewrites yesterday. 🙂

I love tea parties and love visiting tea rooms. I hosted a mother and daughter princess tea party for my granddaughter and her friends when she was eight years old.

I belonged to a book club from 2004 until 2010 when I dropped out because I couldn’t keep up with the books while I was still teaching. The members in the club took turns selecting books and hosting the meeting. We tried to prepare food that would be associated with the book. Now I belong to several online book groups. I also read with two friends (one from Spokane and one from Australia) whom I connected with on a favorite author’s website. We read new releases from our favorite authors and discuss through email.

About to finish your latest, The Sisters of Sea View! Love the characters!
