She writes from her loft office in the Central Ohio home she shares with husband (and biggest fan), Tom. Tom and Cindy have three grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a collection of granddogs. Deborah Raney

DEBORAH RANEY's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title and launched Deb’s writing career. Forty books later, she's still creating stories that touch hearts and lives. Her novels have won RWA's RITA Award, the ACFW Carol Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the HOLT Medallion. She is also a three-time Christy Award finalist. Deb is on faculty for several national writers’ conferences and served on the executive board of the 2,500-member American Christian Fiction Writers organization for 18 years before retiring in 2022. She is a recent transplant to Missouri, having moved with her husband, Ken Raney, from their native Kansas to be closer to kids and grandkids. They love road trips, e-biking, Friday garage sale dates, and breakfast on the screened porch overlooking their wooded backyard.

Thanks for taking a look, Anne. I’m always on the lookout for angels or other figures reading books. I have a few more than are pictured here.

    Hi Cindy,
I love that book cover and I am a picky book cover kinda girl. Pretty doors and cute book cherubs! I think writing from a loft would be a cool idea. makes me think of Jo in Little Women.

Thanks, Sandy. I love the cover too. Tyndale does an outstanding job. A little known fact is that nothing in the cover photo was photoshopped (other than the text.) It was taken in the home of my Tyndale publicist. I love my office. It’s not a true loft, but there is no door, just a spiral staircase leading up to it.

Oh how I love Sundays! (Isn’t this the day these usually are delivered to my in-box?) Everything here in the San Joaquin Valley in California (and elsewhere) is dry and brown. We are on a flight path for “fire planes” heading into our mountains to fight fires. We have visual as well as auditory reminders of our severe drought. What a blessing to welcome GREEN and FRESH to my afternoon. I know it is raining somewhere and one day it will rain here again. Thank you for welcoming me into your garden and loft.

Job 14:9 … “yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots” …

Isn’t it odd how dry it is in the west, yet so wet out here in the east? Glad these pictures brought you some joy.

This makes me want to go out and take some more pictures. Focusing in on a single plant or statue can be really calming. Thanks for posting, Deb!
