Each Sunday “Inspired by Life…and Fiction” shares a Christian novelist’s newest book and the garden spots where they find inspiration.
Cindy Thomson’s new Ellis Island Series follows the lives of new immigrants as they struggle to find their place in America. Cindy serves as a mentor for the Christian Writers Guild. She writes from her loft office in the Central Ohio home she shares with husband (and biggest fan), Tom. Tom and Cindy have three grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a collection of granddogs. For more about Cindy and her writing see www.cindyswriting.com.

Thanks for taking a look, Anne. I’m always on the lookout for angels or other figures reading books. I have a few more than are pictured here.

Hi Cindy,
I love that book cover and I am a picky book cover kinda girl. Pretty doors and cute book cherubs! I think writing from a loft would be a cool idea. makes me think of Jo in Little Women.

Thanks, Sandy. I love the cover too. Tyndale does an outstanding job. A little known fact is that nothing in the cover photo was photoshopped (other than the text.) It was taken in the home of my Tyndale publicist. I love my office. It’s not a true loft, but there is no door, just a spiral staircase leading up to it.

Oh how I love Sundays! (Isn’t this the day these usually are delivered to my in-box?) Everything here in the San Joaquin Valley in California (and elsewhere) is dry and brown. We are on a flight path for “fire planes” heading into our mountains to fight fires. We have visual as well as auditory reminders of our severe drought. What a blessing to welcome GREEN and FRESH to my afternoon. I know it is raining somewhere and one day it will rain here again. Thank you for welcoming me into your garden and loft.

Isn’t it odd how dry it is in the west, yet so wet out here in the east? Glad these pictures brought you some joy.

This makes me want to go out and take some more pictures. Focusing in on a single plant or statue can be really calming. Thanks for posting, Deb!
