Each Sunday “Inspired by Life…and Fiction” shares with our readers a Christian novelist’s newest book and the garden spots where they find inspiration.
Born and raised in Vincennes, Indiana, Jamie Carie began writing as a young girl. Many poems, short stories, and song lyrics later, she grew up and married, and when her eldest son turned five she decided to try her hand at novels. Her first novel, Snow Angel, won the USA Book News “Best Books 2007” Award, and was a 2008 RITA Award finalist. Thus began her dream career. Jamie and Tony have now been married more than twenty years and enjoy their backyard getaway in Indianapolis with their three sons and a dog named Leo. Visit Jamie on the Web at www.jamiecarie.com.
Jamie writes in different spots around the home now that her college son is back for the summer and has temporarily taken over her office space. |

Your new pictures are great. In spite of what you wrote; you are truly a beautiful lady. What is most important, just as you wrote, is the inside, of course. From my vantage point; I believe your beauty is much more than skin deep and believe it goes to your very core. But I would really like to know; do you like living in the Wichita as much as you enjoyed your home in a small town?

I DO, Faith! We truly love Wichita. For one thing, my entire family of origin lives here now…my parents, 2 sisters and my brother, and it’s been wonderful being closer to them. For another thing, even though we miss our old neighbors and our old church, we still see many of our friends because everybody from small towns comes to Wichita several times a month. 🙂 We’re closer to the airport, and a little closer to each of our kids here. And we live in a quiet neighborhood with big old trees and lots of wildlife…yet there’s a Starbucks only 4 minutes away. 🙂
When I moved off the farm to go to college, I said I’d always be a farmer’s daughter at heart. And then I grew to love small-town life and said I’d always be a small-town girl at heart. And I am both of those…proudly. But I’m a very happy city girl now too and I’ve loved getting a chance to experience all those different ways of life. Thank you for asking! 🙂

What a wonderful answer. It reveals much about you. You really made me think of this verse: “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” I Tim. 6:6. That is wonderful also that you now live closer to your family. I’m happy for you.
