This week, my first novel Canteen Dreams is free on ebook platforms. There is something really special about this story of my heart. Partly because I never thought it was the type of book I would write…after all I was going to write romantic suspense like Mary Higgins Clark. When I told people I wanted to write, WWII wasn’t on my radar. That changed after I met Tracie and Jim Peterson at my first ACFW. I tell the story in this short video.
At the very beginning of the month we hosted some of my family from Nebraska for the Purdue/Nebraska football game. While it didn’t go the way I would have chosen for the game, we had a blast playing cards and hanging out. We also celebrated our son’s 16th birthday. A very full weekend.
Now we’ve had our first real snowfall… it also blustered on Halloween. Makes me a bit nervous about what the winter will be like, but also makes me think it’ll be good writing weather if I can keep feeling in my hands!
What are you thankful for this month?

I have much to be thankful for, not only this month, but every month. I have a loving husband and family who not only love me, but love Jesus as their savior. We have a comfortable home that we love, hot and cold running water with indoor plumbing, plenty of food to eat, jobs that He has provided to help meet our needs, a wonderful church where the pastor teaches from the Bible and gives the truth to a lovely body of believers, we have good health. The weather here in Missouri has been super cold for this time of year. Our average high temp is supposed to be 55, but on Monday and Tuesday it didn’t make it out of the teens!!

So much fun! I’m trying not to be envious of your snow. We had pre-season deep freezes, now back to normal temps. Tons of cloudy days, the look of snow, but nothing! Thank you for the free book. 🙂 November is my month. I love the pre-Christmas charm, Thanksgiving, my birthday, cooler days, swirling leaves. November is the perfect month to be thankful.

It has been bitter. I hope it’s not a precursor to a long winter. I love snow, but not for months 🙂

I’m thankful for family and friends – always so important.
I’ve had Canteen Dreams for a while and hoping to get to it after Christmas. I love reading about WWII. Really enjoyed Where Treetops Glisten, as it brought back many memories of stories my mother used to tell.
Looks like a wonderful time with your family!
