I recently received copies of the German edition of To Win Her Favor (roughly translated Who is Struggling to Love) from Francke, my wonderful German publisher, and seeing this book brought back so many great memories of the trip Lynn Austin, Elizabeth Musser, my daughter Kelsey, and I took to Germany in June 2014.
Here are a few glimpses:
I promise you, every time we’d stop somewhere, Lynn would scout out the ice cream. She has a radar for dairy, that woman. And of course, we tried to discourage her. Well, sort of…
Lynn with Christian Heinritz,
the Art Director (and so much more!) at Francke (watch out for those “vash-bears,” Christian!)
And of course, what would a trip to Europe be without pictures of their gorgeous doors…
Love, love, love!
Each one tells a story, don’t you think?
And finally, a very candid photo taken of one of our most ardent German admirers as we were speaking one evening…
Bless him, I think he’d had enough! And in all fairness, he was in charge of the audio. But I’m not sure whether that makes this better or worse. LOL!
Thanks for letting me share some memories of our trip. And thank you, Francke, for hosting us!
Traveling through Germany on the 10-day book tour with Lynn, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Kathrin, Anne-Ruth, Christian, and all the wonderful reader friends we met along the way was an honor and a blessing I’ll carry with me into eternity. Truly. (Much like that ice cream that I’m still carrying around, Lynn. LOL)
What’s a special trip or “getaway” that lives in your memory? Please share. And do tell us your “partners in crime” who traveled with you!
Grateful we’re on this journey together,
Tammy

I taught Spanish at the high school and led several student trips to Mexico. My fellow teacher and I had a great time together and could tell some great and funny stories. I hope our students remember those trips with fondness as well even the ones to whom we had to say, “I TOLD you not to eat food you could buy on the street.”
Tamera Alexander says
LOL, Melissa. Love that. YES to that advice! And I’ve no doubt those students remember those trips fondly (well, besides the possible bathroom breaks).

Oh Tammy….I am laughing so much that I have tears, LOL. 😉 The photo of that very tired man (along with YOUR comments, hehe) struck me as so funny – – thanks for the chuckles this morning!
I remember after you ladies took that trip and you posted about it (maybe on Facebook?) and it sounded SO wonderful. How fun that your sweet daughter went too!
I have such fond memories of my daughter Amy accompanying me on my first two writers’ conferences (ACFW 2008 and 2009). Even though she was not attending the conference itself, just having her along on those trips was such fun (she makes me laugh – – there’s something about that sense of humor in red-haired people *wink*). 🙂
Thanks for sharing with us today, and have a delightful Tuesday, sweet friend. I do hope your weather there is as gorgeous as in my Georgia neighborhood today – – the PERFECT Spring day, thank the Lord!!
Hugs, Patti Jo

Hey sweet woman! I’m a little late in commenting (yesterday got away from me), but yes, aren’t we blessed with our relationships with our daughters. And LOL on the red-haired people. Yes, indeedy! ; )

Is it really been so long since you all were in Germany?
This book tour is a special memory for me, too. Because before the event started you came up to us and we had a very nice chat. It was so nice to meet you and learn of the story behind the stories.
Waving to you from Germany
p.s. we hope you will come back another time. There is a lot more yummy ice cream to try 😉

Hey Rosa!! So good to hear from you. And yes, can you believe it’s been almost two years? Time is moving so quickly. Much love to you, friend, and prayers of blessing.
P.S. Save some ice cream. I’m sure I can talk Lynn into coming back with me. : )
Rosa :) says
Thank you so much.
We would be thrilled if you all come back!
Name the date and the place and we will take care of the ice cream 😉
Much love to you and Lynn. May God bless you 2 & and your loved ones!! Please say hi to Kelsey.

Oh my! So many wonderful memories! When can we do it again? But if I’m not mistaken, it was YOU, dear lady, who requested ice cream for lunch every day. I always ate my day’s worth of food at breakfast time. As my grandmother used to say, “Eat for the hunger that’s coming.”
Tamera Alexander says
Moi?! Funny how we all remember things differently. 🙂 And never fear, honey, I’m always eating for the hunger that’s coming… Oy!

I’m a tad late to be commenting due to work issues, but I love the pics! One of my sweetest memories is my trip to Germany with my daughter in 2012 to see our exchange student. And I remember when we went to a Christian bookstore there and I found my sweet friend Tamera Alexander’s book as well as those of some other great ACFW authors.
So excited that ACFW is in Nashville this year!
Tamera Alexander says
That was so cool, Linda. I remember you sharing that with me. So sweet! Great mother/daughter time. And yes to ACFW in Nashville. Fun times ahead!
