Unpack and Repack

July 26, 2017 By Robin Lee Hatcher

On Monday afternoon, my flight from Spokane touched down in Boise after five days and four nights at our annual brainstorming retreat. This was our 15th retreat, and every year they grow sweeter and sweeter. Yes, we brainstorm book ideas. We usually do a book each for nine novelists. We also have a couple of non-fiction writers who are with us. In addition to brainstorming, we share deep thoughts and feelings and we pray up a storm. We also laugh and eat. A LOT.

Left to Right, Brandilyn Collins, Sandy Sheppard, Robin Lee Hatcher, Sharon Dunn, Francine Rivers, Karen Ball, Tamera Alexander, Sunni Jeffers, Gayle DeSalles, Tricia Goyer, Janet Ulbright

If you want to see how truly silly we can be, check out the Facebook Live video a bunch of us did.

I spent Tuesday washing and organizing and repacking. By the time you read this, I will probably be flying my way across the country to Orlando, Florida to attend the Romance Writers of America® national conference where Keeper of the Stars is up for the RITA® Award. I’ll get up on Wednesday before 3 AM (Mountain time) and I’ll arrive at the hotel around 5:30 PM (Eastern time)⎯more than 12 actual hours later. L-O-N-G travel day with evening events still to come.

Lest you think I’m neglecting my adorable Boo, rest easy. For both trips, she is/was in the capable hands of my husband Jerry who spoils her completely rotten and mostly undoes any training progress I have made with her.

No worries. She begins Puppy Preschool on August 5th!

Robin – were you up at Coeur d’Alene Lake by any chance? That shot of all the ladies looks like Coeur d’Alene or possibly Hayden or…? Only a few miles from my front door in Spokane. Sounds like you had fun, in any event.
