This past fall, I asked for “must sees, must dos, and must eats” while in Waco, TX because my daughter Kelsey and I were planning a trip to Magnolia Farm. Well…
THE TIME HAS COME!
We’re headed to Waco on Friday!
So for all of you who’ve been and lived to tell about it, I’d still love to get your two cents about “must dos,” if you’re willing to share.
So far, we’ve gotten the following counsel:
- Arletta recommends seeing the Dr. Pepper Museum
- Julie-Nick says the Magnolia Farms bakery is “fantastic!”
- Perrianne advises that the least crowded days are Tuesday and Wednesday (which, of course, that doesn’t help us much because we’re going on a weekend. Ah well…)
- Melissa says everything there was beautiful and peaceful and that it was just such a lovely place to visit—and that she didn’t want to leave!
Thanks to sweet friend & BSF buddy Polly Hardwick for the cool collage of images
she captured while in Waco on a mother/daughter road trip!
- Scott says, “The entire town of Waco is being “restored” and it’s really a beautiful thing to see. Not all the houses, etc… but a beautiful sense of community that made us feel like we were all guests of way more than just the Silos. Amy is obsessed with all things Magnolia. I am obsessed with the cupcakes!” LOL… I love that!
- Angela shares that she and her sister went last May, and she recommends visiting the Baylor Campus and the Barrett Browning Library.
- Lauren says that eating at Torchy’s Tacos (right by the Silos) is a must! And that their fried avocado taco is especially good! (Consider it done, Lauren! This is definitely on our list!)
- Julie recommends visiting the Texas Ranger Museum.
Magnolia Table is now open so we’re going to try to eat there. (I could be wrong, but I think our weekend is going to involve a fair amount of eating.)
- Polly (who shared the lovely collage above) says to see 1) The Findery and The Findery Warehouse (The Findery is just a block away from Magnolia Silos and has farmhouse furniture and home decor, then the warehouse has even more), 2) Hecho En Waco (New Mexican Restaurant, in walking distance from Silos), 3) Spice Village (take trolley from Silos), 4) and that there’s a tour you can take (by bus) to see homes from Fixer Upper (about a 4-hour tour). Added all that to our list, Polly! (Our list is growing, Kels!!)
- Sandy shares that she lives just a few miles from Magnolia. She recommends taking the shuttle (great tip!) and that there are parking lots around town, and you can just grab the FREE shuttle to drop you off at Magnolia.
- Janet shares that we MUST get a cupcake or a cinnamon rolls. (I’m usually Keto, Janet, but I’m going to have at least one, babe. If not two!)
Do you take the Magnolia Journal?
I loved seeing my word for this year—intentional—on the cover this month.
If you’ve been to see Chip & Joanna and have more fun tips for us, I’d love to hear them.
But hurry! We leave Friday!
Much love,
Tammy

If you are interested in seeing some gorgeous stained glass windows, go to the Baylor campus library. They have a massive display including 47 windows featuring the writings of Robert & Elizabeth Barrett Browning. https://www.baylor.edu/browninglibrary/index.php?id=942795
