Happy New Year, 2017! Hard to believe that I’ve been steadily writing since 1993. This year I will also celebrate twenty years with Love Inspired Books. I recently reached a milestone with sixty-five books written for LI and Harlequin. In all, I’ve written seventy-six books–both in full length and novella.
But this year I hope to READ more books. I read all the time but I do it in spurts these days. I decided between Christmas and New Year’s that I’d read more often and enjoy reading for more than a few minutes at a time. Here are some of the novels I’ve enjoyed reading during the holidays.
I haven’t set a goal but I hope to read as many books as possible. My Sunday afternoons will be dedicated to reading unless I’m on a tight deadline.
I also took a long look at the upcoming year and cut back on some things. I have a hard time saying NO when it comes to writing, so I’ve dabbled in Indie publishing while maintaining a heavy schedule with traditional publishing. I was about to dive right back into that this year but some personal things made me stop and rethink that notion. So I had to drop out of a couple of projects and rework others. I’m learning to let go of a few things, too.
Winter is setting in and while I haven’t made any resolutions, I have made some other changes. I’m happy to have signed a new contract with Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense and I’m excited about one particularly challenging story.
Meantime, I have a book coming out in February. It’s the last of the Men of Millbrook Lake series that’s been a part of my life for almost three years now. I will miss those men and the women who captured their hearts. But it’s on to new adventures in a year full of possibilities.
What new adventure or plan do you have for 2017? Did you step back and give up some things or are you charging ahead and making it work? Are you reading any good books? To celebrate writing for LI for twenty years, I will give away a copy of Her Lakeside Family to one of you great posters. Just answer one of the questions above. I’ll post the winner when I blog again in two weeks.
I hope you all have a great 2017!
