Hi friends, and happy Wednesday. I hope your day is off to a lovely start.
My novella collection, Whiteout, with Lynette Eason, releases in early February, and I’m so excited to share my story with you! Here’s a sneak peek at my story inside the collection.

In Buried in Shadows, Cassandra Parker arrives at her best friend’s destination wedding, praying her stalker hasn’t tracked her to Colorado. Also, part of the wedding party is Sheriff Joel Brunswick, the man she stunned by leaving at the altar to hide a dangerous truth. When an avalanche strands their ski group in an abandoned lodge, it becomes chillingly clear that Cassandra’s stalker has followed her . . . and he’s willing to kill to make her his.
I had so much fun writing this story, not just because I love Sheriff Joel Brunswick.

You might recognize Joel from my Jeopardy Falls series. He’s best buds with Deckard MacLeod. The two play ball on the same regional law enforcement baseball team—the Ranchers. Which fits perfectly with both men, as the MacLeods own the Second Chance ranch, and Joel owns Cadillac Ranch after his favorite singer, the late Chris LeDoux.

*Fun fact, when my husband and I were dating, my hubby got to share a meal with Chris LeDoux.*
I’ve been angling to share Joel and Cassie’s story for a while now, and I’m so glad the opportunity presented itself.
Not only am I excited to share about Joel and Cassie’s romance, but also the location of the fictional town of Silver Pines, Colorado.

During high school and college, my mom and I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It’s where I met my hubby, got married, and started a family. The area holds special memories for me.
Living right at the Sandia Mountains’ base, I had the opportunity to go skiing a lot. My friends and I would often go skiing right after school until the runs shut down. But my favorite place to ski was Durango, Colorado. It was under a four-hour drive, and the mountains and ski runs are amazing, as is the adorable ski village it’s based in.

I kept these images, along with my wonderful memories of skiing in Durango, in mind while writing the scenes for Buried in Shadows. I hope when you get a chance to read it, you’ll envision some of these inspirational pictures too.
Question:
Have you ever been skiing? What’s your favorite winter sport?
Blessings,
Dani

I don’t ski and living in Florida not too many winter sports. I grew up in snow, and we would go sledding and tobogganing.
Love tobogganing! I grew up in snow too.
I love tobogganing! Grew up in snowy winters.
I spent a lot of time on skis growing up. My oldest sister worked at the local mountain (Elk Mountain) and so I got to ski for free as family. I loved it. And I miss it. My brother learned to ski when he was stationed in Colorado when he was in the army. I’ve never gone out there to ski, but I should. Looking forward to your novella!
Nice! I bet that was fun. And, I hope you enjoy it 🙂
LOL! When I saw the title of the post, I thought I was going to get a history lesson on how white-out (used to correct errors when typing, etc.) was invented. Ha! I enjoyed your actual post a lot more.
PS I skied as a kid, but my favorite winter sport is reading by a blazing fire in the fireplace.
LOL! That would have been funny 😀 Glad you enjoyed it!
Reading by the fire is an excellent winter sport.
