One thing readers maybe not realize is the friendships between Christian authors. Some of my best friends are fellow authors. We help each other, we support each other, and we UNDERSTAND each other!
A few years ago my friend Cara Putman said, “A few of us should come together and write a World War II novella.”
This is Cara and me . . . aren’t we cute?
A third friend join us. Sarah Sundin. She’s very cute, too!
Over the coming months you’ll be hearing more about our joint venture. I will share a few things.
1. Our novella collection will be out fall 2014!
2. It’s a World War II, Christian fiction novel. This may be hard to believe because Cara and I researched by going to the Triple XXX diner! (It’s actually a historical diner in West Lafayette, Indiana. There is nothing “X” about it!)
When visiting West Lafayette, Cara and I visited McCord Candies in Lafayette, which as been open since 1912! McCords does show up in the book.
Here is where the candy is made:
Here is a view of the soda fountain and candy shop.
Sarah also visited LaFayette to research, too. Here is Sarah in front of the house we use for the Turner family. Isn’t it lovely?
And now … the most exciting part. Here is the cover!
And a few more details to leave you with!
A World War II Christmas novella collection coming from WaterBrook Multnomah, October 2014

What a great cover!!!! And the book sounds amazing. Love Christmas novellas! And all the stories sound really good. Makes me almost wish it was fall already…but that would mean winter would follow and after this past winter I think I want to bask in sunshine and warmth for a wee bit longer.
I do enjoy historicals set in World War II. The most recent one I’ve read is For Such a Time by Kate Breslin. Awesome read!

I L-O-V-E the title Where Treetops Glisten! LOVE it. And what pretty cover art.
Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I enjoy reading holiday stories year round. I know it must’ve been fun writing these novellas. 🙂
I’ve read two WWII books this month:
For Such A Time, by Kate Breslin ( My review: http://coverloverbookreview.blogspot.com/2014/05/for-such-time.html )
Daisies Are Forever, by Liz Tolsma ( My review: http://coverloverbookreview.blogspot.com/2014/05/daisies-are-forever.html )
Both of these books are fabulous. I’ve no doubt you’d love them (if you haven’t read them already.)

I’m looking forward to reading both those books!

Talk about a superstar collection! You three are the authors I automatically think of first when WWII is mentioned. I know this collaboration will be fabulous! Congrats! 🙂

I’ve read, enjoyed and reviewed Cara’s novel Saved By Grace. I was told recently about a WWII museum here in Aliceville, Alabama. Friends have gone and raved about it. German prisoners were housed there during the war and were treated very well. When our soldiers were captured in Germany and found out they were from Aliceville and surrounding areas, they were treated very well also!
I never knew authors collaborated until I started following the “Smitten Authors”. I always pictured authors writing in a quiet solitary place by themselves. I think it’s wonderful that y’all find similar friends and socialize and collaborate, share ideas and support each other!

I’ll be watching for this book, Tricia – – and I LOVE that title (Where Treetops Glisten). Except now I’m humming the Christmas song White Christmas, and it’s May! 😉
The house in the photo of Sarah is beautiful – – I love old houses. 🙂
Congratulations on this novella collection, and I’m sure you all enjoyed putting it together.

Tricia, I can’t wait to read your novella. This is a very timely post ,as we are heading to the UK in two weeks, for my husband’s long awaited desire to attend the 70th anniversary reunion of his Dad’s Squadron (Lancaster 550) to be held in July, at North Killingholm.
As we are both very fond of WW11 Novels, I can recommend one which Pete has just finished and I am about to start but I know instinctively, it’s going to be a great read just by reading the promo.
It is a story of two pilots (and I quote) ” An Incredible True Story of Combat And Chivalry In the War-Torn Skies Of WW11. The book is called “A Higher Call” by Adam Makos, a Journo, Historian and Editor of the military magazine “Valor.” and with Larry Alexander…,Author.
Adam flew a B-17 Bomber, and Larry is the author of the New York Times best selling biography “Biggest Brother” a story of Major Dick Winters, alongside other stories of WW11 that he has written.
Tricia if you haven’t read this book I feel sure you would enjoy it.
Enjoyed reading your post.:)

I can’t wait to read it! I love novels set in WWII! I just finished Kate Breslin’s book “For Such a Time” and really enjoyed it. I loved “The Swiss Courier” and “Chasing Mona Lisa” that you wrote, Tricia! And I adored all of Sarah’s books, so I’m super excited for this novella collection! (If you need any promoters, I would love to help!)

In answer to your question, have I read ay of WWII – yes – All of Sarah Sundin’s. Even my husband and my father have read them and we all loved them. My father served in the infantry under Gen. Patton in WWII, in Korea & Viet Nam. He went into the army at barely 18 and retired at 48. Then went to college, and went to work at our church. He said with his retirement he could do what he felt like God was calling him to do. He worked there until he was in his 70’s. He will 88 next week.
Looking forward to the book. Looks great.
Have a Blessed weekend.
