As you may be aware, a group of authors including Becky Wade, Dani Pettry, Jamie Jo Wright, and Katharine Reay, and I have been participating in a month-long “You’ve Got Words” challenge. If you missed the first two weeks challenges, be sure to go back to Becky’s post and read through our entries where we crafted titles and heroes using random words that we drew from a cup.
Last week we crafted heroines using the names Emily or Sarah and the occupations governess/nanny or midwife. Here are our entries and big congrats to Dani Pettry for having the winning heroine!
***********************************************************************
This is the final week in the challenge and our task was to create the scene where our hero and heroine meet. Our words came from the categories: relationships, verbs, and settings. Katherine Reay drew the words (you can watch the video here). She randomly picked two words from each category: attraction or marriage, crawl or run, threshold or porch.
Our job as authors was to take one word from each category having a total of three required words that need to show up somewhere in our entry. To make this even more difficult, our scene could only be 150 words long!
Here are this week’s entries!
Read them, then go over to Dani’s Facebook Album to vote on scenes by clicking “like” (you can vote on more than one!). Our entries will remain anonymous and the voting will remain open for a week (Oct. 3-10). By voting, you’re automatically entered to win one of Katherine Reay’s books. Make sure to stay tuned to Facebook and find out which author is crowned queen of words as well as whether you’re the winner of one of Katherine’s books.
To wrap up the “You’ve Got Words” challenge, we’re also having a grand-prize giveaway! Enter the Rafflecopter form below for a chance to win ALL of our latest releases along with a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.
Thanks for joining in the fun!

LOL (hasn’t ever happened to me before *wink wink*) This challenge has been so much fun! What a great way to get to sample some new (to me) authors as well!

Like others I have a rather lengthy list of Christian Books that I’d like to buy, but based on what I already have in my stack, I think I’d like to add Jody Hedlund’s new book Searching for You or the The Lieutenant’s Bargain by Regina Jennings, or An Obvious Fact by Craig Johnson or The Mentor by Rebecca Forster or maybe a couple of older ones that include For Time & Eternity by Allison Pittman or While We Were Far Apart by Lynn Austin. It would just depend on what I choose then.

I have a whole list of books I’d love to purchase. Since we are on a strict budget this season of life, I ask for gift cards for Christmas so I can spend those on the books I haven’t been able to purchase through out the year. I usually end up with enough books to last me roughly 6-8 months. It’s wonderful!
