Inspired by Life ... and Fiction

Novelists bound by the pen, sisterhood, & more

A community of readers and writers + Giveaway

February 26, 2026 By Cara Putman 2 Comments

Tuesday night over 185 of us in the Christian Fiction Reading Challenge came together on Zoom for our second month’s conversation focused around books. Much like this community of writers on Inspired by Fiction and Life who love to create a space to celebrate readers and books, it’s been a delight to watch what is happening as we all come together around topics we love: good books and our faith.

I think there’s something special about these designated spaces.

In a world that likes to spend so much time tearing each other down, instead, we’re celebrating each other. We’re talking about what we share in common (a love of books)… and we’re encouraging each other. In a world that loves to find the bad and tear each other down, I think that’s pretty special. And consider this your invitation to join us if you’d like to talk about books with fellow book lovers.

Speaking of books. This year I’m already at twenty books read or listened to. I haven’t had space to write much yet…work has been intense, so March will be a bit writing month — pray for me! But I’ve read some really fun books. My 17 year-old and I both enjoyed Deborah Clack’s debut novel Even After This. (You can find my interview with her on Book Talk here. It’s a romantic comedy with real-life themes. So good! I’m giving away a copy of it and my friend Janya Breigh’s latest novel An Appearance of Impropriety on my blog. On that blog you’ll read about a lot of books I’ve loved lately as well as two at the top of my TBR pile.

What are you excited to read right now?

You did a wonderful job interviewing Katherine Reay Tuesday night, Cara. I really enjoyed the Zoom meeting. I read The English Masterpiece for that discussion. I just began Ring of Secrets by Roseanna White, first in her Culper Ring Revolutionary War spy series.
