The Precipice of 2024

January 3, 2024 By D'Ann Mateer

I’ve always been a lists and goals girl. My excitement in every “new” start, whether the beginning of summer, a new school year, or a new calendar year, is the movement toward my goals for those segments of time.  So a few days ago, as I stood on the precipice of 2024 looking ahead, it was a bit unnerving to me to realize that I had no goals for the new year. None.  Oh, I have … [Read more...]

Christmas Family Time

December 20, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

We’ve had a wonderful whirlwind of family time.  First, all our kids came for Christmas at our house on Saturday the 16th. November 15, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

About this time each year one of my favorite songs from the movie Holiday Inn starts running on repeat through my head. This song has been especially poignant for me this year. 2023 has been one for the books—and not in a good way! It won’t be forgotten. And yet, so much to be thankful for—things and people only the Lord could have put in place.  I’m thankful for this house which … [Read more...]

Not the post I thought I’d be writing today

November 1, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

I had a post drafted for today, one detailing my excitement over cataract surgery that would be happening and how my restored eyesight would be an answer to my preteen prayer so long ago.  But alas, it was not to be.  On the final pre-op test, my doctor discovered that I have a condition called keratoconus, which is essentially a severe steepening of the cornea. It’s apparently … [Read more...]
