Living in Florida

June 3, 2024 By Angela Hunt

Lately I've realized that while every state has its idiosyncrasies, Florida might have more than its fair share. Dave Barry has often written about Florida being a crazy state, and he's right--where else will an alligator come up and knock on your front door? Or barge right through your kitchen window? Where else can you--like I did yesterday--run into a lovely young rat snake climbing up a … [Read more...]

The SISTERS OF CORINTH–not exactly a Cinderella story

May 20, 2024 By Angela Hunt

I'm excited because THE SISTERS OF CORINTH finally releases tomorrow--on the 21st! For The Sisters of Corinth, the second book in the Emissaries series, I wanted to begin with a Cinderella-type proposition: after much primping and preparation, two step-sisters are invited to a banquet where one will be chosen to marry the governor’s handsome son.  But the Emissaries series deals with … [Read more...]

Mary Had a Little Lamb . . . and so did I!

May 6, 2024 By Angela Hunt

I don't know if you saw the hilarious picture of lamb cakes that was going around on Facebook . . . This photo makes me laugh every time I look at it. His Eye Is On The Chicken

April 15, 2024 By Angela Hunt

So . . . last month, one late afternoon, I stepped into one of my big chicken coops to refill their water. There's a little white bantam rooster in there who loves to attack me, and while I was busy with the water and keeping an eye on him, one of my hens slipped out of the coop. This would not be a big deal except that Jazzy, one of the mastiffs, was outside with me, and a couple of years ago she … [Read more...]

I love spring, but ugh–the bugs!

April 1, 2024 By Angela Hunt

I do love spring--my trees come back to life, the oaks gleam with yellow-gold new leaves, and I stand outside and recite "Nothing gold can stay," the poem by Robert Frost. That tradition began when I was in high school. Every year Mrs. Williams would lead us out to a second story balcony beneath a sprawling live oak, where she'd recite the poem and we'd marvel that Nature's first green really is … [Read more...]
