Hey friends! If you live in or near Nashville, then this invitation is for you!
First, a conference for writers . . .
If you’re a writer—either published or hoping to be—this conference is for you! I’ve attended this gathering in the past (and hope to this year!) and it always offers excellent information and teaching. Plus encouragement! I always leave uplifted and rejuvenated.
Second, in addition to the conference that day, that evening offers an opportunity to celebrate Christian fiction . . .
The Christy Award Celebration Gala is always a grand night of celebrating Christian fiction with authors and publishers, and this year is no exception. It’s truly a pleasure to attend.
Patti Callahan is delivering a tribute to C.S. Lewis’ writings. If you haven’t read Patti’s Becoming Mrs. Lewis (the story of Joy Davidson, wife of C.S. (Jack) Lewis), you must put it on your TBR list. It’s the love story of Jack and Joy, and it’s divine reading! You’ll love it!
James Rubart and our own Becky Wade (woohoo, Becky!) will also be making presentations, and there will be a special tribute to Janette Oke on the 40th anniversary of her beloved novel Love Comes Softly. Which, incidentally, is the novel that first started me on my writing journey, thanks to my dear late mother-in-law Claudette who gifted me that novel in 1995. I owe a debt of gratitude to Janette Oke and am so grateful she faithfully obeyed God’s call to write.
If you haven’t checked out the 2019 Christy finalists, you can view the entire list here. I’m honored to be included in the Historical Romance category with Patti Callahan and Kristi Ann Hunter. As I said above, I’ve read Patti’s Becoming Mrs. Lewis (splendid!) and am enjoying Kristi Ann’s A Defense of Honor ‘as we speak.’ Have you read either of these books? They’re both such gifted writers, and I encourage you to check out their work.
I had the pleasure of shooting some videos at Carnton (the setting of my novel With This Pledge, the real love story of Carnton) earlier this year, and would love to show you Carnton!
So, do you live in or near Nashville? If yes, I hope you’ll consider attending The Art of Writing Conference on Wednesday, November 6, and then that evening for the Christy Award Celebration Gala—all at Lipscomb University. And if you see me, please come up and give me a hug—if I don’t see you and give you one first!
Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tammy
