I’m about halfway through the creation of my next book. It’s still the rough draft, really rough, but last night I was working on the cover and marketing information form. It’s a little surreal to complete details about important scenes and the characters.
I’ve known what Savannah, the heroine, has looked like since Beyond Justice, but now that she has her own book, I’ve had to dig deep. She has a rescue kitten in Delayed Justice, but the poor kitty is nameless. I had no idea exactly where in the Virginia suburbs of DC the poor woman lives. Now I have a pinterest board with images of her adorable cottage.
As readers, do you enjoy seeing the places and images authors have when they create their story worlds? I’m always torn, because I get pretty vivid ideas in my mind’s eye. But if you love having that peek behind the curtain, I have a series of my research boards, one for each book, on Pinterest. They let you see the characters, important locations in the book, and other research details. You can see them all here.
I’ve also been hard at work this spring turning many of my homefront WWII stories into audiobooks. They will start rolling out in the next couple weeks, but I wanted to give you the opportunity to listen to one. I have a few codes for Canteen Dreams to share. I’ll have others as the rest of the books release. If you would like to listen to a download of one of my audiobooks, and maybe leave a review, just enter using the form below. I’ll give away one audiobook for each 50 entries. The more the merrier!

I love audiobooks! If it weren’t for audiobooks, I wouldn’t be able to “read” at all. Most of my reading time has to fit into the spaces when I am cooking, driving, or doing chores. I am excited that more of your books will be available in this format.

I started listening to audiobooks a year ago to maximize time in the car. Loving it for that.

I love audiobooks. It’s like my early years when Mom used to read to me. 🙂 It also comes in handy when I’m cleaning house or doing other chores.

Yes! And the narrator makes such a difference.

That would be a great way to try new authors. Hmmmm.

In answer to your question about seeing characters and settings, I enjoy creating these pictures in my mind based on the details of the story, so I’m not as inclined to need to see concrete photos. I do love listening to audiobooks and currently do so using MP3 CDs or CDs. The audiobooks that one downloads would be more portable, however.

I love audiobooks and now that they can be listened to via the phone instead of cassette tapes or CDs it’s even better. Some of my favorites last year were Charles Martin’s books.

I love audiobooks, I still enjoy holding a book in my hands, but I found that when I have an audiobook I get to read all day. I listen in my car, at work, doing chores, running errands, it’s great. I also found that a good narrator can really add so much to a book. Some of my favorite narrators are, Ari Fliakos, Elizabeth Knowelden, Scott Brick, Jan Cramer, and Katherine Kellgren, who unfortunately passed away a year ago. Some of my favorites are the Lady Hardcastle books by T.E. Kinsey.

Audiobooks are actually how I first came to “read” your books! A friend recommended the Hidden Justice series to me for a 12 hour road trip so I listened to one on the way to my destination and one on the way home. I am looking forward to Savannah’s story! And I just recently scooped up the ebook version of Canteen Dreams. I look forward to reading it!

I love the idea of setting up a Pinterest board of pictures and places of your latest characters and their stories. I’ve been writing stories since I was 8 years old, but I’ve just jumped into the deep end of the actual “publishing” and letting others read my work. It’s been exciting and terrifying at the same time. Reading posts and blogs of seasoned writers helps me learn and get encouragement. Like I said, your Pinterest board for your characters is a wonderful way to truly allow them to come alive. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your work.

I have recently started listening to audiobooks, and I found that I really enjoy listening to the books. It is such a great way to pass the time while you are driving or doing chores. My favorite audiobook that I have listened to recently would either be North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell or In His Image by Jen Wilkin.

I thoroughly enjoy audiobooks – I joke that my vehicle won’t drive unless I have audiobook CDs in the player (I have an old vehicle!). Congratulations on creating audiobooks for your Nebraska-based WWII books! :o)

Love audio books. Probably my favorite was The Walk by Richard Paul Evans.

I have only done the “Left Behind” dramatic audios I loved those, but have not tried any others. Just listening to someone read the story doesn’t appeal to me, but maybe I’m wrong. I should at least try one before I judge them. So hope I can win one to try.???

I love audiobooks! It’s really hard to pick a favorite so I will just tell you the last one I listened to. It was At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. Hearing the different voices and accents the narrator added another level to the story for me. I can’t get that when I read the book.

I’ve just started getting into audiobooks and I love the flexibility of being entertained while I do chores around the house. I also enjoy listening when we travel as long as I’m not driving.

I’m listening to Widow of Gettysburg by Jocelyn Green right now! I love to listen to audiobooks while I do things around the house, or while driving. My favorite audiobook is the Harry Potter series. The narrator is just the best!
