Have You Seen OVERCOMER Yet?

August 26, 2019 By Deborah Raney

The new Kendrick Brothers Film Overcomer released this past weekend, and Ken and I went to see it in a Friday matinee showing. We absolutely loved it and can’t recommend it highly enough!

A great movie for the whole family and especially recommended if your family happens to be sports-minded like ours. In fact, our son-in-law is a cross country coach and our daughter helps him coach, so we could really relate to so much of the storyline.

If you can possibly see this movie in the theater, it goes a long way toward supporting Christian faith-based movies in general. We have a limited budget for entertainment, but we always try to see Christian movies in the theater on the weekend they open just to show our support for the great strides Christian filmmakers have made in recent years.

You can watch the trailer here:

Another great movie that will be in theaters soon comes from another set of movie-making brothers, the Erwin Brothers. This one, like their last film, I Can Only Imagine (highly recommended!), is based on a true story, the touching and heartbreaking story of musician Jeremy Camp. Watch the trailer for I Still Believe.

I am so thrilled to have such great choices for family-friendly, God-honoring movies in the theater. What are your favorite faith-based films and how have they impacted your life? I’d love to add to our list of great movies that the whole family can watch!

So many good movies! I’m going to see Overcomer on Tuesday and can’t wait! I have loved Soul Surfer, Unplanned, October Baby, all the Kendrick Brothers’ movies, God’s Not Dead 1, 2 and 3…they’re all wonderful and inspirational.

I think we’ve seen all those, too. And yes, all excellent!

I saw Overcomer yesterday and agree it was great! Farmington doesn’t get many Christian movies so was thrilled to see it was here. I try to go whenever they do have Christian movies hoping that will bring more. War Room was probably the most life changing movie I’ve seen. I think everyone but especially teens and young adults need to see Unplanned.

I agree. Those were two of my favorites up until Overcomer. Oh, and Fireproof was great too.

We plan on seeing Overcomer next week. Our bible study group just saw the movie: Same Kind of Different as Me, oh my goodness, such a great movie. Based off of a true story. It sparked a lot of conversation afterwards

I read the book Same Kind of Different as Me, and then we saw the movie. I agree: so good and so inspiring!

We love Overcomer! We got to pre-screen it back in March during a filmmakers guild, and definitely went to see it again this weekend.

Other Christian films we love are:
The Defense of New Haven (Little Crew Studios),
The War Within (House of Grace Films),
    Polycarp (Henline Productions),
Resurrection of Gavin Stone (Vertical Church Films),
and the VidAngel tv series The Chosen (episodes 1-4 have been really well done, and 5-8 are in production now).

Well, both of the Trailers had me in tears…I can’t imagine what watching the movies will be like. Thanks for the heads-up.

Definitely take some Kleenex, Roxy! But the overall feeling coming out of the theater is joy and triumph! And an encouragement that we, too, can live the life of an overcomer.

Overcomer sounds fantastic. I’m a track coach, so the content should be really interesting. I’ll have to see if it is playing in my area. We get so few Christian movies here.

How cool! Our son-in-law coaches track too. He and our daughter met when they both ran track in college. You will really like the message of Overcomer!

I hope hundreds of thousands of people are able to see it and soak in its message of hope and triumph!
