The Details of the Story

September 20, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

Hey y'all! D'Ann here. My husband and I are on a much-needed vacation. I'll tell you more about it in October. Today I'd love to introduce you to my dear friend Carrie Stephens. I'm so looking forward to reading this book she wrote with her husband. Now here's Carrie: Two years ago, I convinced my husband to write a book with me based on a sermon series he preached seven years ago. Morgan … [Read more...]

The Blessing of Praying Friends

September 6, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

We’ve been walking through a rough summer. If you are on my email list, you know a bit of my house woes. If you are from Texas, you might know some of our other stresses due to my husband’s former job. Not to mention health issues of several close friends, lots of travel and job stress. On our last trip to Boston of the 4th of July, we went to one old favorite—Brattle Books—and one fun new one: Commonwealth Books.  Perhaps like you, I judge a bookstore so many different ways. Especially a used bookstore, like these two. The main reason I love both of these is that their small spaces are filled with unusual books. In … [Read more...]

Turning Research into a Story

July 19, 2023 By D'Ann Mateer

My second book in Guidepost’s Secrets from Grandma’s Attic series came out this month. I had so much fun researching and writing this story.  For the historical mystery in this book, I latched on to a fact from a previous book—that Grandma’s brother died in the Korean War.  How did I turn that into a story? Research!  But I thought I’d peel back the curtain a bit so you … [Read more...]
