Several years ago, I wrote a book on spec, and it wasn't exactly what the publisher wanted, so I wrote them another one. That first manuscript sat in a drawer. Many times I pulled it out and tried to reshape it, but it never came together and I always had another book waiting in the wings. Well. For the past couple of months, I've been working on that book. It has gone through more … [Read more...]
New Year, New Books
I hope you all had a merry Christmas and that your new year started well. I’m looking forward to my year of gratitude (I shared about that in my last post). I spent the week before Christmas working on the edits of To Find Where She Belongs, Book #5 in The British Are Coming series (release #97 for me, coming February 9th), and then I spent the few days right after Christmas working through the … [Read more...]
Happy Bookish New Year!
Happy New Year! Were you awake for the arrival of 2026? We have an annual New Year's Eve party at church filled with board games, so we managed to see the clock strike midnight. Then we headed home to bed. Except . . . on the way way I realized that my blog post was due TODAY! Yikes! So, here I am at 12:54 in my pajamas writing a blog post. Guess I'm keeping it authentic. Ha! One of my … [Read more...]
My Life in Christmas Cards (and a giveaway!)
Merry day after Christmas, everyone! In thinking about what I wanted to blog about today, I thought, "I know! I'll share some of my Christmas cards through the years!" Then thought, "Wait. I think I blogged about that once already." I checked, and I DID already blog about it in 2017. So instead of reinventing the wheel, I'm recycling my original post, adding this year's Christmas card to it, and … [Read more...]
Merry Christmas Present for You
Hi friends, and Merry Christmas Eve! Growing up, we opened our presents on Christmas Eve and our stockings on Christmas morning. My husband did the more traditional opening of presents on Christmas morning, so that’s what we’ve done with our kids and, now, grandkids. But I still get to have everyone open one present on Christmas Eve, which is really special for me. Picking which … [Read more...]
Christmas Wishes and an Excerpt
My mincemeat and fruitcake are made, and I’ll be baking cookies today. What are you up to? Are you all ready for Christmas? Since so many of us are thinking of the holiday, I thought I’d share an excerpt from my recent novella, A Sea View Christmas. I hope you enjoy it. See any similarities to your own Christmas plans or dinner menu? Either way, Happy Christmas, everyone! (Note: If you can't see … [Read more...]
Merry, blessed Christmas to you all!
By the time you read this, my husband and I will be gathered with all our kids and grandkids for an early Christmas together at our oldest daughter's home in Missouri. All 24 of these precious people under one roof for several days! Definitely my happy place! This photo is from last year, so everyone is a year older and wiser (and that tiny baby is walking now!) We've finally outgrown being … [Read more...]
Gratitude for a Life Redeemed
As many/most of you know from posts through the years, every November/December I ask God to give me a word and accompanying verse for the year ahead. For 2025, the word God gave me was REDEEMED. God was preparing me but I didn’t know it. It seemed more past tense than future tense. It turned out, God meant to redeem some ashes in my life, turning them to beauty (Is 61:3). I won’t go into … [Read more...]
Favorite Christmas Carols
I adore Christmas carols. In fact, for years I harbored a secret fantasy of having my three children and husband join me in full Victorian costume to sing carols for Christmas parties and events. Complete with lamppost! We are actually a very musical family and could easily pull this off, but none of the others seemed quite as enamored by the idea as their mother. Sigh. Such a missed … [Read more...]
A Wiggy Christmas
Our Community Group from church decided to forgo the traditional White Elephant gift exchange this year and make way for . . . wigs! Yep, we had a wig exchange. The rules? Whatever wig you opened, you had to wear the rest of the party! There is such a wide range of cheap, funny wigs on Amazon—and we had no two alike. We had everything from dreadlocks to K-pop stars to 18th-century-style … [Read more...]
